"This is the third in a series based on memories and photographs of short winter journeys just before dusk.

These paintings were done after exploring small watercolour studies, incorporating photographic images; focusing on the most powerful elements of that amalgamation - contrasts, forms, mood and texture.

As a result, the landscapes have become removed from a literal representation of my experience but still evoke its sombre beauty and stark contrasts."
